Coris Lee Amos, 76, of Amos Road, Martinsville, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Bassett on July 26, 1935, to Delma Rigney Amos and Jimmy Lee Amos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Hodges and Lois Lawson; and two brothers, Curtis Amos and infant Lloyd Amos.

Amos was a retired construction worker, and he was a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Cathryn B. Amos of the home; a daughter, Amy Turner of Bassett; a son, Coris Lee Amos Jr. of Collinsville; a sister, Shirley Moran of Martinsville; and one grandson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville with Minister Stanley Waddell officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home.

A graveside service for Jennie Jones Beal, 75, of Fieldale, who died Feb. 20, 2012, at her home, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Henry Memorial Park with Pastor Don Reynolds officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at Bassett Funeral Services.

She was born in Rutherford County, N.C., on July 24, 1936, to Lawrence C. Beal and Onie Bland Beal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, James Bradley Oakley; and a brother.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Tom Beal of the home; two daughters, Ramona Oakley of Collinsville and Vanessa Belcher of Oak Level; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and one sister.

The funeral for Mary Ingram Cannaday, 85, of Bassett, who died Feb. 18, 2012, was held Tuesday at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville with Pastors Lee Ashby and Wesley McCarter officiating. Burial was at Roselawn Burial Park.

Pallbearers were Scott Guilliams, John Netherton, Stephen Strait, D.G. Joyce, Gene Ingram, Clyde Taylor, Leon Cannaday, Keith McGuire, James Guilliams, Joel Cannaday, Adam Rotenberry and Howard Huff.

A memorial service for Glenn Albert Carey, 83, of 170 Gilbert Drive, Martinsville, who died, Feb. 19, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville with the Rev. Van Moore officiating.

Carey was born in Walton, N.Y., on March 24, 1928, to William Carey and Elsie Bell Gray Terry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Floyd Terry; a brother, Burton Carey; and two sisters, Ruth Gaston and Marion Byington.

Before retiring, he was a janitor for Patrick Henry Community College and a former school bus driver. He was a member of Druid Hills Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Carey of the home; children, Rex Carey, Myron Carey, Michael Carey, Jessica Johnson, Joshua Carey and Seth Carey, all of New York, Jim Carey of Virginia and Blaine Carey of New Jersey; stepchildren, Adolph Casse and Alex Donenko, both of New York, and Phillip Casse and Margaretta Abare, both of Virginia; a sister, Vera Schmitt of New York; 26 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Community Funeral Services of Ridgeway and other times at the home.

She was born in Henry County on July 5, 1938, to Henry Wade and Pearl McBride Wade. They preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and babysitter. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and attended First Assembly of God of Martinsville.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Chester Marshall of the home; four daughters, LaQueta Marshall Carroll of Florida, Susan Marshall of South Carolina, Patricia East of Martinsville and Charity Coleman of Collinsville; one son, Tim Marshall of Danville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Beulah Haynes Pilson, 85, of 2736 Elamsville Road, Stuart, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab Center, Bassett.

She was born Nov. 20, 1926, to Robert Haynes and Gladys Cox Haynes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Pilson; a brother, Elmer Haynes; and a grandson, Jonathan Bowling.

She was a member of Smith River Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lou Wood and Judy Fulcher, both of Bassett; and Robin Feron of Stuart; sisters, Marie Ashworth and Ruth Compton, both of Bassett; two brothers, John Haynes of Bassett and Bobby Haynes of Collinsville; eight grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Services in Stuart with the Revs. Brandon Wood and Dwayne Troutt officiating. Burial will be at the Pilson family cemetery on Goblintown Road, Stuart.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.
