Farewell to Whitney Houston
There are events in our lives, which when they occur are not readily or ever forgotten. Who among us will forever remember where they were the day of the JFK assassination, or the death of MLK, or 9/11. One such moment for me was the rendering of the national anthem by Whitney Houston for Super Bowl Sunday in January 1991.

Water use is questioned
Thank you all for the nice article you did in the Martinsville Bulletin (Feb. 5, “Officials: Philpott level not issue for marina”).
My biggest response on the comment that (County Administrator/Public Service Authority General Manager Benny) Summerlin placed in the main article is this: Summerlin said the water plant that draws water out of the Smith River is permitted as a 4 million-gallons-per-day water plant — the same as when it opened in 1985.
